About the Groen family

We are the Groen family and we have lived in the beautiful and cosy mountain village of Dobrinishte in Bulgaria since April 2024.
Growing up in IJmuiden in North Holland in the Netherlands, we always went on holiday to the mountains in Kleinwalsertal, Austria. We love the mountains and the beautiful nature, fresh air and views you can find here.
It was always a dream to live in such an environment....

In 2022, the idea of emigrating arose because of the events and problems in the Netherlands. So in August 2022, the six of us went on holiday to Bulgaria by car for the first time. Here we looked at houses in different areas: the Balkan Mountains, the Rhodopes Mountains and the Bansko region.
Eventually, we bought a house in Dobrinishte, about eight kilometres from Bansko.

Now we are mortgage-free, have few expenses and a nice garden with our own vegetables and fruit (trees). And that in the mountains in a cosy village and in one of the biggest holiday resorts in Eastern Europe with endless possibilities!

We have made our dream a reality!
