Although the route markings are not always clear, for many people it is doable. However, some do recommend hiring a guide who knows the route well. This is because the rocks can be wet or it can be foggy, which is very dangerous.
Many hiking and mountain biking routes run through the area, but there is more. The international hiking route E4 also runs through the Pirin. This route runs from Tarifa in Spain to the Greek part of the island of Cyprus, through France, the Alps and right through Bulgaria and the Pirin.
This is a stunning route that is a whopping 12,000 kilometres long!
You can also, for instance, walk from the Bezbog hut (accessible from Dobrinishte) to Bezbog Peak. This is a trek of about an hour and a half, so this is fairly doable.
Finally, there are many skiing opportunities in the Pirin. Indeed, in winter, this mountain area is a winter wonderland. You can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in Dobrinishte, Bansko and Predel.

There are many glacial lakes and waterfalls, making the Rila one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Europe.
