What are the ticket prices?

Prices can vary quite a bit when it comes to the Rhodopes Narrow Gauge Railway. This is because different fares are charged for a single or return trip and for groups. Also, children under the age of 7 get a discount.
Also, of course, it depends on where you get on and off.

If we rely on a one-way journey from start to finish (from Dobrinishte to Septemvri or vice versa), it will cost 6.60 per person. This is in BGN, so in euros this is about half, which will end up being about €3.30 per person.
For a return, this is 11.90, so just under €6.
Booking a return immediately is cheaper than if you book two separate trips.
Note that this is slightly more expensive on the afternoon train, obviously because of the crowds.

For groups of 3 to 6 people, it is 5.55 per person and 2.80 for children. This is for one-way travel from start to finish.

Where can I buy tickets?

You can buy tickets for the Rhodopes Narrow Gauge Railway both on the train itself and at the station. Please note that this is not possible at all stations and you can only pay in cash on the train.

You can also buy tickets online via the website of the Bulgarian railway company BDZ. This is especially popular in the high season.

This is especially advisable in the high season (summer and winter months) due to crowds, which will quickly fill up the train.

If you are going to order tickets online, note that the payment options are different from other countries. This is via ePay.bg or Zorica, for which you need an account.
So it might be more convenient to buy the tickets on location, however, with the risk that the train might be full.
